Neda Hormozi

Associate Director of Leadership Development – NHS IMAS

I joined the NHS in 2004 to deliver on a failing smoking cessation KPI for my PCT and more crucially to participate in the delivery the biggest public health agenda in my lifetime. With Smokefree England behind me, I was already looking for my next move within the NHS when I heard about the Breaking through programme.

Monday

After organising some introductory one-to-ones with the Outer South East London chief executives, I travelled to Guy’s Hospital for a three hour executive meeting on our “A Picture of Health” programme. The programme, run by the local NHS in Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham, is all about finding new ways to improve the patient experience in our area, and to adapt our services to the changing needs and priorities of the local population.

Tuesday

Once I’d written up and circulated the update from yesterday’s “A Picture of Health” meeting, I looked at a draft tender document for an urgent care service from Hammersmith & Fulham PCT. I then spent the afternoon reading papers in preparation for a Transitional Team Joint Committee meeting and for a Medical Director meeting tomorrow.

Wednesday

This morning I went to a one-to-one meeting with the interim London SHA consultant to devise a model for effective coordination in Outer South East London. That was followed by a Healthcare for London stakeholder meeting, and after lunch I spent the afternoon mentoring and following up my contacts and actions from the Confederation for Outer South East London.

Thursday

After preparing and updating my action plan, I spoke to the Director of Finance to check he was happy with the proposal from the Transitional Team project manager. In the afternoon I met with the Chief Executive of Interim Management and Support, then had a teleconference with an IMaS colleague to clarify roles and agree actions. I spent the evening at a welcome dinner for the new Graduate Scheme intake.

Friday

I always do a bit of house keeping on a Friday morning, dealing with emails and phone calls. I also had my weekly 1:1 with my sponsor. The rest of the day was taken up adapting the Programme Office dashboard from PWC for various projects.
