The Top Talent Programme - developing tomorrow's leaders

The Top Talent Programme is designed to support the development of BME managers, enabling them to perform effectively at executive director level. The diagram below outlines the process for people that want to take part in the Top Talent Programme.

The journey a Top Talent candidate takes will start with a decision. They will decide that they want to hone their skills in one or more of the LQF competency areas. From there, it’s a case of speaking with their line manager about their intention to apply for the programme, as this will ease the transition from one organisation to another if they’re successful.

The candidate will complete an online testing stage and if they’re successful, they’ll be invited to the development centre. At the centre, candidates go through a series of activities designed to measure behaviours against LQF competencies. All candidates are given in-depth feedback about their performance. If successful they are invited to take part in the programme; if not they are advised to speak to colleagues in their SHA about local programmes and other support that might be available to support their development.

The programme lasts for 18 months and involves individuals taking part in a job opportunity at or near director level (depending on skills and past experience) as well as taking part in a bespoke educational programme. In addition participants will have access to executive coaches and be involved in action learning sets.
