Breaking Through Conference

The fifth National Breaking Through Conference will be held on 23rd October 2009 at The Novotel London West, Hammersmith and will demonstrate the investment and belief this programme has and continues to elicit.

The conference is designed to provoke thought, enable debate and put the focus on how the NHS can develop a workforce that truly represents the population is serves.

Key note address will be delivered by David Nicholson, Chief Executive of the NHS.

The conference will give delegates the opportunity to:

  • Understand the importance of a diverse workforce at senior levels in the NHS in light of demographic changes in England
  • Understand the barriers to career progression for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) staff in the NHS and learn from best practice examples elsewhere
  • Celebrate the contribution made to the NHS by BME staff over the last 60 years
  • Discuss local issues in relation to leadership with specific reference to BME staff
  • Network
