The Institute for Innovation and Improvement

The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement focuses on rapidly developing and sharing new ways of working, new technology and world class leadership. And in doing this, the Institute supports the NHS and helps transform healthcare for patients and the public.

The challenge is to develop strategies that are not only appropriate, but effective and efficient too. Each year the NHS must address the changing needs of the population it cares for, as a result the focus of the Institute changes too.

In 2009-10, the priorities are for:

  • Safer care
  • Delivering quality and value
  • Commissioning for health improvement
  • Building capability for a self-improving NHS
  • Learning
  • Leadership
  • Service transformation
  • Exploiting innovation - national centre for innovation.
